I admit this pick really surprised me, but even more surprising is how different she appeared on the Huberman Lab podcast, when she made no mention of vaccines or as much as I can recall, GMOs. She seemed to have sensible and rational takes on most of what she talked about, which was metabolic health. She even got me to stop having night time snacks because of how well she described the metabolic system and how the glucose cycle could be thrown out of whack. Her take on Ozempic also seemed sensible, as she warned about the pharmaceutical companies getting people hooked on it rather than focusing on root issues.
I don't know if she was hiding more extreme views or if she just wasn't asked about those topics by Huberman. I do think psychedelics might have merit for some therapeutic uses and that should be studied more. None of this makes me think she's a good pick for surgeon general, but it doesn't surprise me that Trump would choose someone unqualified.
